I replaced the engine hood lamp with a LED version and added a switch so that I can have the hood open without removing the bulb or drain the battery.
All well, but one thing is strange. When the 12v is switched off (hood switch open so that there is no ground connection for the bulb) I expected the LED bulb to be dark.... but it is not. There is a tiny glow, maybe 10% of normal strength. The only two things that can do this are the alarm controller pin 5 and the fan controller pin 6 on connector II. Or maybe a leak in the switch itself? Don't know.... will find out one of these days
I'm not sure how much current is drawn, but apparently this is one of the drains you would not want. It may be a few mA but still.

This is the schematic of the engine hood light of a 1992 GTS. The older models use a mercury switch that closes when the hood opens. Later this was changed to a simple contact switch close to the passenger side cross brace.
