This shows the brake pad sensors as used in the 928 models. (different versions exist, front and rear)

** note: due to wear of the disk an outer rim forms on the disk. That rim cuts into the sensor causing an early brake pad wear alarm. Sanding off that rim is probably a wise thing to do as you do not want to waste 1mm of friction material on the pads due to early replacement.

The sensor wire is held in place on top of the pads using a retainer clip. It can be a bit of a hassle to undo the sensor wire, but some do not know that the part on the right of the picture below can be un-clipped and the left part then moves up/down over the big spring that holds the pads down. This way the wire is freed easily without fear of damaging the wire.
