It is an electrical amplified Antenna for AM and FM reception. It uses a 12v red wire, and a short coax cable to connect to the main coax cable ending up front at the radio. It can be accessed by removing the cover in the 928 ceiling where the sunroof motor is located (rear-center). due to the sunroof mechanism (if you have that) it can be a pain to reach the nut holding the antenna without removing the sunroof gear.
