Cylinder numbering when at front of the car facing engine:
Right Bank (as seen from driver seat) numbered : 1-2-3-4
Left Bank  (as seen from driver seat) numbered: 5-6-7-8

The ignition system are actually two groups: 7,1,4,6 and 3,8,5,2, each having its own coil and power stage.
Firing order: 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8

The ignition ecu triggers each power stage individually, who then pulse the ignition coil which generates a high voltage. This high voltage is fed into the bottom of the distributor which connects to the individual sparkplugs via the rotor. The rotor is linked to the cam gear which mechanically links engine position to the right sparkplug for sparking.

This shows the marker which indicates the firing on the #1
