FINALLY! no more red lights!! I had been trying to trouble shoot a brake pad warning on my car (the one for sale) and it had been driving me nuts! Today i got the good ole continuity tester out and went to work. Everything checked out at the calipers. I then traced the wires at the front to the inside fenders of the engine compartment. The wires lead into a cylindrical connector (one on each fender) i pulled the wires there and checked for continuity back to the caliper...GOOD!
now the rear...
I figured the rear wires would run into a similar connector somewhere...but
where??? After pulling the wheel i traced the wires into the trunk
area...to the spare tire well. I removed the spare tire and then removed the
black plastic shielding in the forward section of the well. BINGO!! I found
2 similar connectors like those in the engine compartment. Once again i
pulled the wires and check for continuity back to the caliper....GOOD on
both of them. While i was there i saw the contacts weren't the cleanest, so
i took some sandpaper and cleaned them up a bit. Now, whether it was the
contacts or that i disturbed something in the system by unhooking all the
wires, I DON'T KNOW...all i do know is that when i started the car the BRAKE
PAD WARNING LIGHT WAS OUT!!! woo hooo.
Being an aviator i hate staring at RED Lights on the glare shield and not being able to do anything about it! Now i will go back and splice all the wires back into the system so it can it work as advertised. What a PITA over the simplest thing!
