Caster, camber and toe

You can tweak the toe and camber for improved handling without causing abnormal tire wear--seek a professional for advice.

Toe-in

Toe is adjusted by shortening or lengthening the threaded tie rod. Too much toe-in or toe-out will cause tires to wear quickly and cause poor stability and a tendency to hunt or wander from side to side.

Toe-out

Negative
camber

Most vehicles are set with negative camber. Too much negative camber will cause uneven tire wear on the inside edge of the tires. Misadjusted camber side to side can cause the car to pull to one side.

Positive
camber

Positive
caster

Caster is generally built into the steering geometry the suspension . Usually, there is no adjustment for caster.

Caster is the difference from the centerline of the steering axis and the centerline of the contact patch of the tire. Postive caster means that the contact patch for the tire is actually behind the centerline of the steering axis. Positive caster improves directional stability--the car wants to track in a straight line.

Negative
caster

Negative caster--would make it very difficult to drive in a straight line.
