Central Warning Light
Jim,

I've just recently had problems with my lamp check unit. On my '86 928
only
the running lights and the stop lamps are being checked by the lamp check
unit.
> I have a problem I hope you can help me with. My "!Light" won't
turn off.
According to my Owners manual for an '86,
Pressing the ! reset button will not extinguish the ! light for group A
problems.
Pressing the ! reset button WILL extinguish the ! light for group B problems.
Group A problems - Engine oil pressure, Oil level, brake circuit pressure
failure, or brake fluid level.
The manual states "ANY OF THESE MALFUNCTIONS ... MUST BE CORRECTED
IMMEDIATLEY"
Check,
1. Oil level
2. Brake fluid level
3. Oil pressure
4. Braking system lines, etc for fluid leaks, pressure.
If these are OK, it could be the switch that extinguishes the warning.
Or, the various sensors for the conditions listed above.
Or, the central warning unit.
When you turn the key to the ON position but do not start, do all of the
warning lights illuminate?
You should have a warning light lit up on your dash corresponding to the
problem being reported when you've had the engine running.
